PET SNAILS

Care and Nutrition

Snails make great pets. They are quiet, gentle and fascinating.  Once you have the correct set up they are also very easy to look after.

We recommend an old fish tank with a lid, or a plastic storage container with a lid on, that MUST have holes in the top. For the GALS you will need some sort of heat mat that are best stuck to the back wall of the enclosure.  A thermostat MUST BE used. There are plenty available, such as the microclimate ministat.  This will prevent the mat over heating.  They also need some sort of substrate, like coir to dig down into. They must have access to a cuttle fish bone at all times and be fed good quality vegetables such as courgette, sweet potato and squash. Please do your research prior to purchasing a snail as a pet.

You will also have to check for eggs regularly to avoid a population boom. The eggs can be frozen over night and then discarded. I also accept snail eggs if you do not wish to crush them.

When ordering snails as a pet please click on the correct item.  Pets and escargot go through a different packaging process.
